A Message About WSU OWL
As a student in a DDP course, you have free access at any time to the WSU
Online Writing Lab (OWL). The Online Writing Lab is a Web-based environment
in which students can interact with Writing Lab tutors and with other OWL
visitors about their writing. With a few clicks of the mouse, you can read
and respond to other students' writing, discover how other writers see your work,
chat with students and tutors, and learn about the resources available to writers
around WSU and on the Web.
Students can share any kind of writing with the OWL community—academic work,
essays, stories, or poetry. OWL tutors are trained to assist in all aspects of the
writing process, usually responding within forty-eight hours of submission, but they
do not offer a proofreading service. You may contact WSU OWL with questions about
or help with your writing assignments for any WSU course. The actual assignments for
each course, however, should be submitted to the Office of Distance Degree Programs
as directed in the course guide.
Frequently updated pages direct you to other resources such as online writing labs
around the country, worthwhile Web sites reviewed by OWL visitors and staff. Printed
directions in a Student User's Guide to OWL are also available. To learn how to get a
copy for yourself, call the DDP office.
