| Writing Portfolio Reminder |
|
Distance Degree Programs students who have completed 60 credit hours but have not completed their WSU Writing Portfolios (WP99) had spring 2008 registration holds placed on their accounts by the Writing Programs Office. Writing Portfolio holds for DDP degree-seeking students must be removed by DDP, not by WSU Writing Programs. Review the Writing Portfolio information online ( distance.wsu.edu/resources/wrtgport.asp). If you are not enrolled in WP 99, log in to My DDP and select WP 99 to request enrollment. Your first hold can be released when your WP 99 enrollment is processed and three papers or the exam have been submitted. If you have had two or more Writing Portfolio holds placed, you must complete the portfolio before the hold can be removed. Students are allowed two semesters to complete the portfolio. Contact Myrna Davis at the DDP office (800-222-4978 or distance@wsu.edu) if you have questions or to request that a hold be removed |

| ASWSU-DDP News & Events |
Each year we have a community outreach project and this year it is a food drive for Northwest Harvest. Northwest Harvest distributes food and services around the state. We will be taking food collections at the Cougar Hardwood Classic in Seattle (Dec 20th) and the Tacoma Rendezvous (March 1st). We will be raffling a WSU Football jersey at each of the above events. If you are long distance or close by, you can participate to! You don’t have to be present to win, just have the winning ticket. Send in a donation and your tickets will be sent to you. (Make checks out to “Northwest Harvest.”) It’s as simple as that! We want to help fill the food banks during the time of year where there is the strongest demand on food banks. Let’s show Washington that DDP students care! For more information or where to send your check, go to the ASWSU-DDP website, under “Hot Topics” click on Food Drive. http://www.aswsu-ddp.wsu.edu/ Here is another tool for all DDP students to utilize. It is the Hometown Locator. It is a good way for students to find other students. All you have to do is log in, enter your information, and then search. We encourage students to log in and enter their information so that we can populate the program. As people sign up, students will be able to see were other students live so that study groups can be formed. (Addresses can be blocked by student.) This is going to be a great resource. Please check it out, fill out the form, and see who is near you! http://www.aswsu-ddp.wsu.edu/hometown/ Mark your calendars for this new ASWSU-DDP event! ASWSU-DDP will host a pre-game reception prior to the Cougar Hardwood Classic basketball game from 5:00-7:00pm in the Alki room of the Seattle Center. Come cheer on our beloved Cougs as they take on The Citadel in Key Arena! This event will take place on December 20, 2007 in Seattle, Washington. WSU Athletics is offering $5 tickets to DDP students and their guests. We only have 250 tickets available at this rate so order yours today. Order deadline is Dec. 10. For more event information and to order your tickets go to http://www.aswsu-ddp.wsu.edu/events/ Graduation is fast approaching. It may be hard to focus on graduation while you are staying focused on your studies. However, many have been working hard to make your journey from student to graduate a memorable event. ASWSU-DDP will be hosting a reception for DDP graduates and their guest on Friday, December 7 from 4:00 to 6:00pm at the Lewis Alumni Center on the Pullman campus. Please make sure you register for the wonderful evening that you and your family will enjoy and remember. http://www.aswsu-ddp.wsu.edu/events/ While losing some of our quality ASWSU-DDP members is sad, it is also a happy time. They get to graduate but the vacancy they leave needs to be filled. We are looking for DDP students who are creative, innovative, and want to make a difference. Age does not matter. We have committees that are here to help enhance and broaden the DDP experience but need your expertise to do that. It is really a lot of fun. There is something for everyone, please join us. Visit the ASWSU-DDP website for more information at: aswsu-ddp.wsu.edu/committees/2007-2008/. Get involved! You will be glad you did. Senate Meetings: Every first and third Wednesday of the month 6:30 p.m. PT (unless otherwise scheduled). Senate meetings are held at ASWSU-DDP’s Centra (aswsu-ddp.wsu.edu/connection). Select “Guest Login” under ASWSU-DDP Meetings. President/Vice President Office Hours: Tuesdays, 6:00–7:00 pm (PT) Senators' Office Hours: Non-senate meeting Wednesdays, 6:00–7:00 pm (PT) Discussion Board: Ongoing discussion items are posted to the ASWSU-DDP Hot Line Message Board (ASWSU-DDP Connection; select "Enter Message Boards"). |
