Education Abroad—Business in China
Last month's
announcement included information about the opportunities WSU provides for students to study around the world and earn credit toward their degrees that we hope all students will review (Education
Abroad ). Students pursuing a BA in Business Administration are encouraged to take special note of a new six-week program in Nantong, China. Participation in the May 7 to June 16, 2007 program allows students to take two required courses, Mktg 360 and MgtOp 340, and enjoy several excursions. For additional information see "Business in China: The World’s Fastest Growing Economy" (select the plus icon to expand the selection). |
Pierce County Learning Center at Salishan Relocation
By the end of October, the Salishan Learning Center in Tacoma will be moving from its current location (1728 East 44th St.) to a temporary location a couple of blocks away (1711 E 46th St.) while awaiting completion of the Salishan Education Center in early 2008. Learning Center staff will continue to proctor exams and will work with WSU Extension staff, who will help facilitate proctoring services and communication while Learning Center phones are disconnected.
If you have an appointment to have an exam proctored before the end of the month or have questions and cannot reach the Learning Center, please contact Olga Fusté, Learning Center Director, through the WSU Pierce County Extension office (253-798-4101) or e-mail (fusteo@wsu.edu).

Course Completion Policy & Registration Holds
As spring 2007 registration nears, DDP academic advisors are running audits of all current students and their progress in all active courses. Students MUST meet the following conditions of the CCP:
- Students enrolled in 9–11 active credits must
submit a minimum of 25 percent of the course work required in all active
courses before advising holds are lifted and spring 2007 registration is
allowed.
- Students enrolled in 12+ active credits must submit a minimum of 50 percent of the course work required in all active courses before advising holds are lifted and spring 2007 registration is allowed.

Writing Portfolio Holds for Spring 2007 Registration
Distance Degree Programs students who have completed 60 credit hours but have not completed their WSU Writing Portfolios (EDP 100) had spring 2007 registration holds placed on their accounts by the Writing Programs Office. Writing Portfolio holds for DDP degree-seeking students must be removed by DDP, not by WSU Writing Programs.
Review the Writing Portfolio information online (distance.wsu.edu/resources/wrtgport.asp). If you are not enrolled in EDP 100, log in to My DDP and select EDP 100 to request enrollment. Your first hold can be released when your EDP 100 enrollment is processed and three papers or the exam have been submitted. If you have had two or more Writing Portfolio holds placed, you must complete the portfolio before the hold can be removed. Students are allowed two semesters to complete the portfolio.
Complete portfolios will be read October 26 & 27, November 16 & 17, and December 7, 8, & 13, 2006. Grades will be available in My DDP course history in 1-2 working days after the reading. Contact Maria Greaney at the DDP office (800-222-4978 or distance@wsu.edu) if you have questions or to request that a hold be removed.

Registration in myWSU
Web services previously found in eInfoCenter and METRO, including registration, are now available in myWSU (my.wsu.edu; log in with your WSU Network ID and password). To register, beginning November 6, first find the schedule line numbers (SLNs) for the courses in which you want to enroll: choose "Academics"/"Register & Plan"/"Schedules of Classes (Time Schedules)"; select the DDP Spring 2007 option (NOTE: SLNs for restricted courses are available in DDP students' Advising Web Page in My DDP).
Once you have the SLNs, choose "Academics"/"Register & Plan"/"Add & drop classes" or "Academics"/"Learning"/"Add, Drop, Withdraw" and enter the course SLNs. NOTE: DDP students should be aware that the academic calendar in myWSU refers to the Pullman campus schedule; the DDP academic calendar may differ slightly (DDP Academic Calendar).
